A-level Chemistry (AQA)

A-level Chemistry is a rigorous, challenging and ultimately rewarding course that develops students' scientific skills and knowledge. It allows students to help understand the inner workings of the world around them, explaining concepts such as atomic orbitals, enthalpy and entropy.

The course will be examined by three terminal exams all of which will be at the end of Year 2. Students will be assessed every 6 weeks and will sit 2 mock exams in during Year 1, these grades will be used to help determine overall targets, and to help with UCAS applications.

A-level Chemistry builds on the concepts and skills developed in the GCSE and it is particularly suitable for students who have the skills and knowledge associated with a GCSE combined science: trilogy course or triple award science. Students who study A-level Chemistry may go on to a Chemistry-related degree course. For those students who are interested in a medical related career, an A-level in chemistry is a must.
